Selection and replacement of
trimmer potentiometer
1. Select potentiometer according to use requirement.
When selecting
trimmer potentiometer, the resistor material, structure, type, specifications and regulation mode of potentiometers should be selected according to the specific requirements of the applied circuit.
For example, power-type wire-wound potentiometers are used in high-power circuits; high-precision wire-wound potentiometers, precision multi-coil potentiometers, or metallic glass glaze potentiometers should be used in precise instruments; carbon film potentiometers can be used in medium and high-frequency circuits; small rotary switches can be used in volume regulation and power switches of semiconductor radios Carbon film potentiometer; Stereo audio amplifier volume control can be used with a double-shaft potentiometer; Sound control system can be used with a straight-sliding potentiometer; Power circuit reference voltage adjustment should be used with a fine-tuning potentiometer; Communication equipment and computer potentiometers can be used with a multi-loop patch potentiometer or a single-loop potentiometer.
2. Reasonably choose the electrical parameters of
trimmer potentiometer
After selecting the types and specifications of
adjustable variable resistor according to the requirements of equipment and circuit, the electrical parameters of potentiometers should be reasonably selected according to the requirements of circuit, including rated power, nominal resistance, allowable deviation, resolution, maximum operating voltage, dynamic noise and so on.
3. Select potentiometer according to the change rule of resistance.
Linear potentiometers should be used for voltage regulation in various power supply circuits, operation point regulation in amplification circuits, sub-brightness regulation and line and field scanning signal regulation potentiometers.
Reverse logarithmic potentiometer (formerly called exponential potentiometer) should be used for the sound control potentiometer in the sound equipment, and logarithmic potentiometer should be used for the volume control potentiometer.
What is the difference between sliding rheostat and
adjustable variable resistor and fixed value resistor?
Sliding rheostat: By changing the resistance of the access circuit by changing the number of turns of the resistance line, the resistance of the access circuit can be continuously changed (accurately, in the smallest change unit of resistance of one turn), and the resistance of the access circuit can not be read out from the rheostat.
Variable value rheostat: also known as resistance box, by changing the fixed resistance of access circuit to change the resistance of access circuit, can not continuously change the resistance value of access circuit, can read the resistance value of access circuit from the scale of resistance box surface.
Fixed value resistor: a resistor with fixed resistance. The resistance will not change after access to the circuit.
Different ways of calling potentiometers
Adjustable variable resistor, in fact, are potentiometers.
Potentiometer, Taiwanese like to call VR, Hongkong people called: turbine. As for foreigners, it is called potentiometer. There are many people called: adjustable resistance, because the potentiometer is a volume can adjust the size of the resistance, so called adjustable resistance for short. Some people call it: fine tuning, the same principle.
