What are the structure components of potentiometers?
Date:2018-09-20 Views:431
There are many types of potentiometers in daily use, including precision potentiometers, sealed potentiometers and wire wound potentiometers. I remember the previous small edition also mentioned to you what commonly used potentiometers include, then what about the potentiometer structure composition, we do not know if there is any understanding, if not technicians, I believe that its potentiometer structure understanding of the people is only a minority. It doesn't matter if you don't understand. Let's discuss the structure of potentiometer.

Structure of trimmer potentiometer

Potentiometer structure is generally composed of skeleton or matrix, base, resistor, contact brush, drive device components, the potentiometer of different components, the functional characteristics are different.

1. Skeleton and matrix
The skeleton and matrix are insulating supports of trimmer potentiometer, and their matrix materials are usually phenolic paperboard or living epoxy resin glass fiber board.
Matrix materials are required to have excellent insulation and thermal conductivity as well as certain mechanical strength and stability.

2. Base
The base is the second of the main components of linear slide potentiometer. It is the basic component to support and install potentiometer. Its function is to fix resistor and drive mechanism. For a potentiometer whose resistor is an independent component, the base resistor is an independent resistor, which needs a base to support.

3. Resistance body
Resistor is one of the main key components of trimmer potentiometer. The materials and methods of different resistors are different. The resistors are suitable for potentiometer characteristic parameters, and can also meet the use environment of various potentiometers and different parameter requirements.
Common resistance materials include resistance alloy wire, resistance alloy foil, synthetic resistance powder, resistance alloy wire, etc. Because of the different materials used, the resistors have synthetic carbon film, metal film, metal glass glaze, organic solid, etc.

4. Contact brush
Contact brushes are also known as flip-flops or brushes. Because they are contact components that move along resistors and derive output parameters, they can affect the noise, life, output characteristics and contact of potentiometer contact resistance. The composition of contact brushes is also required to be high, the general requirements of contact brushes are: first, good elasticity and conductivity, second, good self-lubrication and corrosion resistance and oxidation, third, linear expansion coefficient and degree of hardness and softness should be matched with the resistance, the contact brush materials are beryllium bronze, carbon black, and so on. Precious metals and white copper.

5. Driving device
The driving device is a component used in linear slide potentiometer to manipulate the contact brush moving along the resistance body. It can be called the driving system. The driving device is generally divided into three forms.
(1) Worm assembly
The worm device is a multi circle rotating component.
(2) Rotating shaft
The rotating shaft device is a component that rotates.
(3) Slide seat
The sliding seat device introduces a straight moving component.

Finally, the basic principle of potentiometer application is discussed. Firstly, when a voltage is added between two fixed contacts of the resistor, then the position of the active contact on the resistor is changed by turning the handle of the potentiometer. Then, a voltage can be reached between the active contact and any fixed contact of the linear slide potentiometer, and this voltage is applied. The size is directly related to the position of the moving contacts on the resistor body.
